Royal Galley of Battle of Lepanto in Barcelona

This is a copy of Real, made in Barcelona.  The original was a Spanish galley and the flagship of Don Juan of Austria in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, the largest battle between galleys in the history of naval warfare.  Read more HERE.

Seen at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona.

  1. Love all the info on the Battle of Lepanto! Especially since the Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is a few days away- October 7! I am meanwhile reading 'The Last Crusader' by Louis de Wohl about Don Juan of Austria....I hope Catholics wake up to the deep & long history of constant unprovoked attacks by Ottoman, Moor, Saracen, Mohammedan, Turks - all varieties of Islam.
We just commemorated 'the other 9/11'- where Sobieski drove back the muslims trying to enter Europe through its back door at the Gates of Vienna.
Today they are invited and even transported into western countries; airlifted into Italy to prevent their dangerous (and illegal) ocean journey.
